SMEStorage Adds Support for icloud Browser Desktop Service

U.K.-based Limited Company, SMEStorage has added support to the icloud (News - Alert) browser-based desktop service enabling icloud users to use SMEStorage tools and clients to manage and work with their cloud data.

Daniel Arthursson, the founder of icloud, said that an open cloud infrastructure is a key enabler for enterprise adoption of cloud services and SMEStorage extends the icloud virtual desktop with these important enterprise class services. “We are very happy to welcome them to the expanding icloud Ready family."

icloud claims to offer a generous 3GB free storage, and cloud-stored files can now immediately be accessed and managed from all clients and tools that SMEStorage supports.

These include desktop cloud tooling and virtual drives for Windows, Mac and Linux, and also mobile support for iPhone (News - Alert)/iPad, Android and BlackBerry. There are also plug-ins for the Firefox and Chrome Internet browsers, and SMEStorage also makes access to icloud available from an Amazon S3 API.

Ian Osborne, CEO at SMEStorage, stated, "We are very pleased to add the icloud desktop to the list of Clouds that can be used from our platform. We now support over 15 clouds and will continue to add further clouds based on user and market demand."He said that they see user’s information in such clouds becoming increasingly fragmented and Google (News - Alert) Docs for documents, Flickr for photos are just two examples. “Also the ability to access and manage disparate information sources either from what is quickly becoming a cloud desktop, or on the move, we believe will become increasingly valuable both to consumers and businesses,” he added.Osborne finished by saying "We look forward to announcing soon further support for other file and information vendors to the SMEStorage Data Access and Collaboration Service."

Founded in 2001, by Daniel Arthursson, icloud provides an online computer and cloud-based media server for SMEStorage and consumers.
