Next Beta Version of Firefox 4 is Available to Test

Mozilla (News - Alert) continues to improve and polish Firefox 4 Beta to ensure that it delivers an awesome experience to some 400 million users around the world. And for that, it takes help from its beta testers with their feedback.

On Tuesday, the company announced that the latest Firefox 4 Beta 10 is now available to download and test. This release continues our work to improve performance and stability in Firefox 4 Beta by including improved memory usage, remote blacklisting for hardware acceleration and better Flash support for Mac OS X users, said Mozilla.

The company is asking users to test Firefox 4 Beta on their websites and report issues with anything from games, video and music to graphics and forms through the Feedback button on the browser.

According to a report posted on techradar.com, Mozilla’s latest Firefox 4 Beta brings some minor changes and a whole lot more stability. Plus, it will have just one more beta before the big arrival of Firefox 4.

The biggest change for the latest beta is that Mac OS X users now have better Flash support and comes with less bugs.

As with all the beta releases, Mozilla is hoping that Beta 10 of Firefox 4 is faster and less buggy, writes techradar.com.

Meanwhile, Google Chrome picks up speed and Microsoft’s (News - Alert) Internet Explorer (IE) 9 get refurbished as the browser competition gets fierce. December 2010 figures from market watcher StatCounter show IE, Firefox and Chrome are the top three browsers with IE accounting for 46.94 percent of worldwide usage share, followed by Firefox with 30.76 percent and Chrome at 14.85 percent usage.

But in Europe, it is a different story. The free web site analytics company reports that Firefox overtook Microsoft's IE to become the number one browser in Europe in December 2010. StatCounter reports that in December, Firefox took 38.11 percent of European market share, compared to IE's 37.52 percent.

"This is the first time that IE has been dethroned from the number one spot in a major territory," commented Aodhan Cullen, CEO, StatCounter, in a statement. "This appears to be happening because Google's (News - Alert) Chrome is stealing share from Internet Explorer while Firefox is mainly maintaining its existing share,” added Cullen
