QinetiQ Appoints Lambeth as New CIO

Officials of QinetiQ (News - Alert) North America have announced the appointment of John Lambeth as chief information officer. Lambeth will be responsible for strategic development of the company's information technology capabilities and management of its IT network infrastructure, according to QinetiQ officials.

Lambeth joins QinetiQ North America from Blackboard, where he was vice president of the Technology Solutions (News - Alert) Group. There, he was responsible for IT strategy, budget development and alignment between the IT investment portfolio and the company's strategic development; enterprise and business intelligence applications; the company's Web presence; and technology compliance for information security, risk management, Sarbanes-Oxley and other corporate-level audit activities.

Michael Stolarik, president and COO for QinetiQ North America, said QinetiQ North America expects Lambeth to "play an active role in developing both the strategy and tools to help us manage the company's business and data more efficiently and effectively."

Last August TMC's (News - Alert) Deepika Mala wrote that in order to provide a global terrestrial asset tracking solution, SkyBitz (News - Alert), a player in remote asset tracking and information management, entered into a partnership relation with QinetiQ’s GPS enabled telematics business, "a high sensitivity business which delivers tracking tools in difficult operational environments."

With the new partnership, Mala wrote, SkyBitz can address customer markets and operations both in North America and internationally, such as high-value load transportation, local delivery operations, heavy and construction equipment, as well as goods movement using flatbed and less than truckload assets that have a need for a high-data rate product via a ruggedized device and secure terrestrial network.

“As QinetiQ has a strong track record in international defense and security markets, we are pleased to be able to use the leadership and expertise of its GPS enabled telematics business to ensure our asset tracking meets the stringent security and durability demands of our customers both in North America and worldwide,” Homaira Akbari, president and CEO, SkyBitz, said.
