Nimsoft officials said that the tool was developed in collaboration with Rackspace and leverages Nimsoft ‘s extensive expertise at cloud hosting. According to its maker, the new tool enables customers to track usage, performance and availability of cloud-based servers hosted by Rackspace.
Cloud-based hosting services are more advantageous than traditional hosting in terms of cost-saving and flexibility. No wonder an increasing number of companies are adopting cloud-based hosting services. Nimsoft Cloud Monitor complements the Nimsoft Monitoring Solution (NMS), which enables organizations to monitor and manage a wide range of diverse applications and services, from the data center to the cloud, with a single easy-to-deploy solution, Nimsoft officials informed.
Nimsoft Cloud Monitor comes with a broad range of capabilities:
Intuitive, customizable dashboards display key performance metrics, including server bandwidth, disk space, number of bytes in storage accounts, and more.
Configurable alarms notify users when problems or potential performance-degrading issues occur.
Resource usage monitoring provides current and historical utilization metrics so users can better understand and control on-going Rackspace cloud costs.
Performance monitoring delivers specific metrics and vital insights into the responsiveness of servers and the overall infrastructure.
“Organizations running applications on the server infrastructure hosted by Rackspace need to continually verify that those servers are performing optimally and pro-actively head off any problems that could potentially impact service levels. With our complimentary Nimsoft Cloud Monitor tool, administrators gain this essential visibility into their cloud infrastructure -- while still enjoying all the economic and operational benefits of Rackspace hosting,” Nimsoft CEO Gary Read explained in a statement.
Regarding the availability of the tool, Nimsoft said that Cloud Monitor can be downloaded free of charge. The Nimsoft Cloud Monitor will be licensed on a no-charge basis for a limited time and the license will terminate upon the conclusion of the free period; additional terms and restrictions apply. The software requires an active Rackspace account to operate and the Nimsoft license does not include any Rackspace services or third party systems required to operate the software. This offer is for end users located in the United States only, the company informed.
It will be relevant to mention here that Nimsoft’s Nimsoft Monitoring System (NMS) has recently been selected by SunGard as the underlying platform for its new cloud services offering. According to Numsoft, NMS delivers the visibility needed to monitor and manage performance across various environments, making it the one solution that can address all of today’s monitoring needs, and those arising in the future, the company has stated.
