3M Enhances Power Saving for Acer TimelineX Notebooks

It has now become possible to build a notebook computer which has an eight hour battery life. The demand for extended battery performance and slim size factor are now taken into consideration. 3M’s (News - Alert) Optical Systems, in its quest to build what customers want, is jointly working with Acer to bring more energy efficient notebooks to market in the near future.

Acer (News - Alert) has become the world’s number two notebook computer company using 3M’s multi player optical films in its TimelineX series. The new notebook series now has an eight hour battery life on a single charge. Even though the screen is made slimmer the resolution offers superior display. The best part of the 3M’s multi player optical films is that it helps to save considerable power even when the notebook is on.

In a recent market survey of 1,189 respondents, about 89 percent of them vouched for 3M’s quality saying that it not only enhanced battery performance but also brought improvements to the overall display as well. Picture quality had increased manifold. These respondents are more than willing to pay a little more money for improvement in display.

Today Acer claims that introducing 3M’s technology has considerably improved battery life of its notebook computers. Users are now happy to buy Acer notebooks as the battery life has extended manifold. The multi layer optical films make the display brighter with wider viewing angles. The number of internal components is reduced with the introduction of this technology. Hence the weight of the notebooks has come down considerably. Hence Acer continues its quest to offer energy efficient and cost effective solutions to its users.

Jim Bauman, 3 M’s Vice President claims that the Acer TimelineX Series notebook has set new standards in the industry. He said he was pleased to see Acer and 3M merge together to deliver such a high quality product to the market.
