Huawei Selects DiBcom's New Octopus Programmable Chip DIB10096

Huawei (News - Alert), the world’s number one manufacturer of 3G/HSPA dongles has selected DiBcom’s newest chipset, the DIB10096 which is based on the programmable Octopus platform. Huawei’s Latin American Customers can now enjoy High Definition TV reception on PCs along with high speed Internet access using the new DiBcom (News - Alert) chipset that supports Full-Seg ISDB-T for mobile usage.

After the launch of the Japanese ISDB-T TV standard in several countries including Brazil, Argentina and Chile, there was a sudden boost in Mobile TV demands in Latin American market. With two levels of resolution offered for each TV program, The ISDB-T signal offers low resolution for small screen devices such as mobile phones and high resolution for big screen devices such as PC’s providing up to 1080p HD quality. Due to the growing popularity of 3G/HSPA datacards in Latin America, Free-To-Air Live TV would prove to be an added benefit for consumers along with the capability to surf on the Internet.

 High Definition TV was the obvious choice of product since datacards were used on PC’s having large screen whereby high resolution can be offered. Using a simple software download, DiBcom has the capability to demodulate TV standards like CMMB, DVB-T, DAB, T-DMB, or DVB-SH thus offering a versatile solution for Huawei to launch this product anywhere in the world with fast time to market.

As per a release, Yannick Levy, CEO of DiBcom said, “After the 3G/DVB-T dongle launched by Huawei in Europe in 2008 with DiBcom’s DVB-T solution, we are pleased to contribute to another innovation of Huawei for the huge South American Market. This is made possible, thanks to our new programmable platform Octopus which gives the fastest time to market, for any of the TV standards used around the World.” The President of Huawei Device mobile broadband product line was also excited to work with DiBcom and believes that the offered product integrated with high definition TV will provide users with enhanced mobile experience.
