Courion's Password Rest Software Solution

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

Found in 1996, Courion (News - Alert) initially introduced PasswordCourier, the industry’s first self-service password reset software and password synchronization solution. Fast forward 15 years, and enterprises all around the world are still utilizing Courion’s Access Assurance Suite to increase efficiency and most importantly provide a high level of security.

This software powers a self-service password management product that allows users to safely, securely and quickly reset their own passwords on various systems without the need for interference from the help desk. Allowing users to reset their passwords on their own can dramatically raises productivity levels as they no longer need to wait around for IT, instead empowering themselves to take care of their problem on their own and get right back to work.

Transparent synchronization provided by Courion lets users maintain one password for many different systems and applications. Transparent synchronization dramatically increases security because it eliminates the need to either write down multiple passwords or save them somewhere that can be accessed by another user without permission.

Company officials stated on the website that strong password features include logging and auditing all password-related transactions, alerts and notifications to users and IT administration to confirm actions or offer warning when a suspicious activity may be taking place, using encrypted and hashed formats to raise password privacy and the flexibility to power multiple password reset requests at one time.

PasswordCourier has shown its resilience due to the fact that the software has been in the market for so long, successfully helping organizations keep what is most important safe at all times—passwords.
