Specops Launches Password Reset Software 5.0

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

Specops Software, a provider of desktop management and password management software, recently released Password Reset Software 5.0.

Specops Password Reset is a self-service portal that enables end users to quickly and securely reset their own user accounts, completely eliminating the need to wait for assistance from the help desk.

"Specops' enhanced Password Management is an excellent 'silver bullet' solution for companies looking to enhance password security, improve help desk productivity and introduce user interface customization while reducing costs," said Tobias Oien, CEO, Specops Software in a statement.

Problems with maintaining password management clearly exist in multiple organizations worldwide. Some of these problems are the ability to change service account passwords, being aware of who has access to view what passwords, and what to do when employees abruptly quit and take passwords with them. In an era where you hear about cyber attacks almost on a daily basis, the ability to securely manage and rest passwords is crucial to the success of any organization.

"While complexity rules are extremely important for security, reducing help desk calls for password-related issues also helps to control costs. With Specops Password Reset 5.0, these calls can typically be reduced by 80 percent or more," continued Oien. This increases efficiency within business operations, as well.

Specops Password Reset Software 5.0 includes such functionalities as multiple domain support, which allows users anywhere in the world to enroll through Windows Identity Foundation; increased enforcement, which offers administrators the option of personalizing compliance rules according to specific end users; and customization done through the user interface customization tool, which enables users to easily create their own unique interface, including graphics and language localizations.

"Whether your organization has 100,000 employees spread around the globe or one hundred employees located in a few locations, the requirement for enabling secure end-user productivity through self-service password reset functionality is absolutely essential," said Oien.
