SysAid IT 8.0 Released, Password Reset Software Industry Takes Note
By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor
IT service management provider SysAid (News - Alert) Technologies has launched SysAid IT 8.0, which company officials describe as fully mobile help desk and asset management software. This version is highlighted by a new password services module and extended remote control capabilities. It’s certainly something those interested in password reset software capabilites should look at.
Israel Lifshitz, founder and CEO of SysAid, says the 8.0 version was developed to optimize the existing software for use on a mobile device.
A couple months ago TMCnet’s Brendan Read wrote that more financial services firms appear to be going to the ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library), which means that these companies will need to ensure that their help desk staff are ITIL trained and certified.
Read says SysAid Technologies reported that 70 financial institutions had selected SysAid’s IT help desk solution in 2010. SysAid’s new financial customers are of various sizes, among them are Badger Bank, First Financial Federal Credit Union, Hawaii National Bank, Scott Credit Union and Security Service Federal Credit Union.
SysAid IT 8.0 supports all the usual suspects when it comes to mobile platforms – yes, and the iPad 1 and 2, as well as all tablets running on Android, BlackBerry (News
- Alert), and Windows 7 OS.
This version allows administrators to remotely control desktops from any browser on any device. The new release also includes SysAid's iPhone (News - Alert) 2.0 app. “The new Password Services Module allows end users to self-reset their passwords and/or unlock network accounts, reducing the number of password service requests submitted,” Lifshitz says, adding that IT administrators are then more available to tackle complex tasks, saving companies time and money.
Basically, administrators can use SysAid IT 8.0 to automatically scan the network and inventory using the Windows Machine Interface, and includes an advanced asset management dashboard to view and track all hardware, software and incidents. A comprehensive version is available for free to small businesses with fewer than 100 users.
