GlobalData Releases Edge Computing Competitive Landscape Assessment With Inspur Information Rated as Very Strong

GlobalData, the data analytics and consulting company, recently released a report entitled Edge Computing Infrastructure: Competitive Landscape Assessment. The assessment concluded that the computing competitiveness of Inspur Information, a leading IT infrastructure solutions provider, is rated as "very strong" based on eight dimensions, and the company was listed as one of the first-tier vendors in the edge computing market.

The report analyzed and evaluated the competitiveness of global edge computing market vendors from eight dimensions, including environment integration, device connectivity, scalability, and management. Eight first-tier vendors were selected. As an all-rounder among these vendors, Inspur Information achieved scores that matched or exceeded the average of first-tier vendors in each dimension.

In the dimension of environment integration, vendors must offer stable performance in complex and variable environments. Aspects include consideration of physical environments such as space limitations and environmental climate factors such as extreme temperatures, and humidity. Inspur Information is rated as "Very Strong" in this dimension due to its abundant practical experience in computing scenarios across numerous industries throughout the world. Inspur Information servers go through rigorous and comprehensive testing via MetaEngine Labs. Over 2,000 routine tests are performed plus over 30 limit tests, including testing for climate, mechanical environment and structural cooling. Thorough testing guarantees stable server operation. For example, the EIS200 edge microserver, designed for remote and harsh operating environments, can operate in extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C (-40°F) to 70°C (158°F), making it ideal for edge applications in different industries such as smart water conservation, smart mines, and smart manufacturing.

Device connectivity is essential in the edge computing industry. Edge infrasructure needs to be able to support a variety of terminal devices and sensors in different scenarios such as manufacturing, energy, and transportation, and ensure the flexible network connectivity of field devices. For example, in the petroleum industry, different communication modes are used in different mines. There are wireless communication, wired communication, and ZigBee industrial interfaces. The Inspur EIS200 edge microserver supports different communication protocols, including 4G, 5G, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, and LoRa. In addition, the InCloud Rail Edge HCI solution supports cross-industry edge application, including manufacturing, transportation, energy, petroleum and gas, and mining.

From the dimension of scalability, most edge users need flexible IT resources, which requires vendors to provide rapid and economical scalability solutions. The EIS800 edge microserver, based on the open edge computing optional module (ECOM), decouples the server core computing platform from the heterogeneous acceleration platform, I/O module, other modules, and management functions to achieve modularity for greater flexibility. Inspur Information, together with Baidu and Tencent, has also contributed ECOM standards to open source organizations. EIS800, based on ECOM standards, won the Germany Red Dot Award: Product Design 2022 for its clean industrial design, flexible modularity and ease of use.

In addition, GlobalData also praised Inspur's edge infrastructure for its competitiveness in five other dimensions: management, developer tools, network integration, security, and flexible consumption. It identified that Inspur's self-developed IECP and IEAP edge computing management platforms support unified management and automated O&M of edge devices by using a flexible network, and provide developers with algorithm configuration and distribution, camera management, and other functions as well as device, network, and management security solutions.

With the rapid development of AI, IoT, big data, 5G and other technologies, the demand for edge computing is growing rapidly. As the world's leading computing infrastructure provider, Inspur Information has a rich edge computing product portfolio with excellent performance in the eight dimensions identified by GlobalData, including environment integration, device integration, scalability and management. Inspur Information will continue to innovate products and work with partners upstream and downstream to promote the development and maturity of the edge computing market.
