Spectrum Announces Sales Orders for New XMC-2131 Dual DAC Module

(Market Wire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BURNABY, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 12/14/09 -- Spectrum Signal Processing by Vecima (TSX: VCM) ("Spectrum"), trusted supplier of signal processing platforms for more than 20 years, today announced the availability of a new high-speed I/O module: the XMC-2131. The XMC-2131, Spectrum's fastest and most powerful I/O module to date, features a large Xilinx® Virtex®-5 FX130T FPGA combined with high speed dual 300 MSPS 14-bit DACs. Spectrum already has over $1 million of orders in hand for the XMC-2131.

"Customers worldwide are discovering the advantages of Spectrum. Spectrum's software reconfigurable architecture allows our customers to add new capabilities and evolve their existing signal processing system by adopting new modules," said Douglas Fast, President of Spectrum. "These incremental upgrades allow our customers to extend the life of their deployed systems. Customers can also reduce the time and cost of new capability roll-outs since they can reuse their software assets." Making full use of the Virtex®-5 FPGA device, the XMC-2131 allows the offloading of more DSP resources from the host, allowing signal processing algorithms to run at faster speeds and higher bandwidths than the previous generation of I/O modules. The XMC-2131 module, along with Spectrum's quicComm software development tools, provides customers with new capabilities including access to high-speed, low latency wideband signal conversion and processing.

The XMC-2131 is used in applications such as Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Electronic Warfare (EW), and Military Communications (MILCOM) systems. The module is compatible with Spectrum's flexComm(TM) family of VME-based software reconfigurable solutions including Spectrum's HCDR-1035 family, a solution that offers optimized architecture for defense and commercial signal processing applications. The XMC-2131 is also available with a Xilinx® Virtex®-5 FX200T FPGA, and can be adapted for use with Spectrum's other product lines.
