Cyan Enhances its Multi-Layer Network Monitoring Management System, CyMS
By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor
Cyan unveiled the addition of new features to CyMS, a multi-layer network monitoring management system in order to improve network visualization and operations of service providers.
According to Cyan sources, the latest updates to CyMS Release 2.3 leverages the company’s powerful visualization tools which simplifies network planning, operations and verification. The latest feature to be added is a three-dimensional Trail Analyzer which indicates the physical and logical connectivity, operations, health and status of discrete services.
Service providers will be able to see the service nodes, associated service modules, physical fiber interconnections and operational status at all physical and logical points on an end-to-end service path, across multiple network layers.
CyMS with Trail Analyzer multi-layer fault correlation empowers service providers to rapidly identify the source of issues down to physical fiber connections. This results in a rapid isolation of issues and faster restoration of services to maximize availability, throughput and overall SLA performance.
The system provides insight into all aspects of the network enabling effective management and improved SLA performance by clearly illustrating the relationships between services and transport layers and providing drill-down and selection of specific services to illustrate the health and status of all transport layers associated with that service, said company sources.
CyMS also delivers the ability to drill-down to the detailed trail view of the physical and logical connectivity and the processing occurring on an end-to-end service path.
The new enhancements to Release 2.3 of Cyan’s multi-layer network management systems uses 3-D network visualization tools to provide detailed illustrations of the physical and logical connectivity, processing and transport of services with detailed trail analysis.
This enables faster identification of the source of network-impacting conditions and faster resolution thereby reducing problems which may occur during traditional trial and error trouble-shooting processes.
In a statement, Frank Wiener, vice president of marketing and market development for Cyan, said, “Service providers recognize that SLAs and operational expenses are based on the whole network performance, not just the performance of a particular service layer.”
Wiener added that by enabling service providers to easily examine and manage their networks from multiple perspectives, down to the trail level they are able to deliver higher performing SLA’s besides benefiting from lower TCO.
