Cybele Software Intros ThinVNC, A Pure Web Solution Allowing Remote Desktop Access To Windows PCs

Cybele Software, a solution designer for enterprise information access and systems integration, which provides products and services that increase the efficiency and ease-of-use of legacy systems, has announced to introduce ThinVNC, a new remote desktop software that boosts and enhances remote technical support and administration tasks so that users are able to remotely access a desktop using just a web browser.

Leveraging the full potential of AJAX, JSON and HTML5 technologies, Cybele has developed ThinVNC from the ground up, and has incorporated various techniques that are not available in traditional AT&T (News - Alert) RFB protocol. The solution offers an enhanced performance to the users that can’t be achieved using any other traditional Virtual Network Computing or ‘VNC.’ It is powered by an HTML5 canvas to display a remote PC desktop, and doesn’t need any additional plugin or add-on to be installed at the client side computer. ThinVNC offers native, secure data transmission using HTTP and SSL, irrespective of the computer or mobile operating system being used by the client.

Deploying the ThinVNC Presentation Manager, the users are able to invite people for attending online demonstrations or trainings. The application runs on the web browser, and the user doesn’t need to download a viewer application so that even the people with non-tech background can also easily and conveniently attend the session without any hassles. Similarly the ThinVNC application can be setup as a gateway to proxy other ThinVNC instances within the corporate environments, so that users can remotely get access to desktops on the LAN publishing only one IP, and only by entering the internal IP/PC name in the welcome screen.

ThinVNC Server is compatible with Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/Win 7/Windows Server 8, while the application is compatible with any Operating System and an HTML5 compliant browser on the client side, which include Mozilla (News - Alert) Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Safari, etc. The solution is free for noncommercial use, and its open source version can be downloaded under the GNU General Public License (GPL) terms.

In July 2010, Telesat (News - Alert), a provider of satellite communication products, tracking systems, towers and Internet routers based in Ottawa, Canada announced that it is utilizing the latest RealVNC (News - Alert) software, VNC Enterprise Edition, to remotely access, control and troubleshoot mission critical ground systems around the globe. The company believed that using the solution offered by RealVNC, it will be able to provide reliable round-the-clock communications solutions to its broadcast, telecom, corporate and government customers.
