Apptus Allows Users of FAST On Linux and Unix to Migrate to Search Platform

Apptus, a provider of search and content enrichment services for online directories from Europe, has announced that the company will provide all the users of the FAST (News - Alert) Enterprise Search Platform with an opportunity to exchange it with Theca, the platform offered by Apptus, without costing them any fee for licenses.

The company aims at offering relevant information instantly to both buyers and sellers, in order to bring them together resulting in mutually beneficial business deals. It has been developing solutions based on its platform Theca, which optimizes the synergies between search, content and sales, since the year 2000. With its headquarters located in Sweden, Apptus has its sales organizations in Europe and North America, and its clientele includes well known names within e-commerce and online directories worldwide, such as Yell.com, ATEA, CDON, De Gule Sider, Eniro, Fonecta, Hitta, Lokaldelen, Panduro Hobby, Quebecor, Truvo and Bokus.

Recently, it was known that Microsoft (News - Alert), the current owner of FAST will abandon all further Unix and Linux platform support for the FAST platform, and Apptus has made the announcement in response to Micrsoft's decision.

In the words of Michael Mokhberi, CEO at Apptus, it seems that Microsoft wants to focus on enterprise search and integrate FAST with their own platform, and this is a move that will make it difficult for online directories and digital marketers who need the benefits of a combination between deeper content and better search.

With the announcement made by Apptus, the companies deploying the FAST platform will be able to smoothly switch to Theca, a platform that is being leveraged by a big number of online directories in Europe. The company will also analyze the present search situation of these companies and the online directory's specific needs at no extra cost to them.

Mokhberi continued that Apptus offers all online directory companies a safe passage to its leading and stable platform without any additional license costs, and the company has been in the market for over 10 years and has obtained a leading position in Europe with its cutting edge technology in search and content enrichment. This means that Apptus has a long term commitment and will continue to develop its products based on its customers' needs, rather than its own, Mokhberi added.
In April 2010, Apptus announced that it had been selected by one of the world's largest global providers of mobile multimedia devices to create a search and recommendation engine for their mobile entertainment portal.
