By Anil SharmaReplay Solutions' annual Java Technology survey shows that enterprise Java teams actively are evaluating, testing and deploying cloud applications.
The survey by Replay Solutions, a pioneer in application logging, software debugging and problem resolution technology, was conducted with more than 1,000 enterprise Java architects, developers and project leaders.
The results of the survey highlight technology trends, as well as which Java platforms are hot in 2010.
A strong theme emerged from the study showing significant trending towards the evaluation, testing and deployment of cloud applications built on Java.
In 2010, over one third of Java application teams will either deploy or test applications in the cloud.
The survey was conducted in March, 2010 with 1,101 enterprise architects, developers and project leaders who are using, deploying or supporting Java EE applications in 2010.
The survey notes that 36 percent of respondents said they would either test or deploy parts of their infrastructure to the cloud in 2010. Similarly, 35 percent of respondents expect to more than double virtual machine deployments in 2010.
"Due to our focus and commitment to the Java community, we conducted this survey to learn more about Java technology trends, and to share the results with the Java community," said Jonathan Lindo, CEO of Replay Solutions, in a statement.
Lindo said that while the survey confirmed the company's focus on JBoss, Tomcat, WebLogic and WebSphere application teams, the company was surprised by the high percentage of enterprise Java teams actively testing or deploying cloud infrastructure this year.
"We're encouraged to expand our own cloud-based solution which we recently made available with ReplayDIRECTOR 3.0 in order to better support our community of users," he said.
