AbleNet Announces Federal Supply Agreement with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

AbleNet, Inc has entered into an agreement with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Federal Supply Schedule Program.

“AbleNet is proud to serve our veterans after they have given so much for our nation,” said Jen Thalhuber, CEO of AbleNet Inc, in a statement.

Thalhuber said that it is especially meaningful to get this agreement by the actual Veterans Day, on Nov. 11.

“Our goal is to assure that each and every veteran gets the latest that our assistive technology has to offer and return them to a happy, fulfilled and productive life,” he said.

According to company officials, this is a multi-year contract providing a range of assistive technologies to all veterans and active service men and women who are serving or have served in the U.S. and abroad.

Company officials said that more than 400 of the AbleNet products are covered under this agreement including the Impulse Bluetooth computer access device. This includes the USB IntegraMouse, a mouse-emulation hardware product; assessment kits, which assist professionals evaluation and identification of assistive technology solutions; and a wide range of other assistive technology devices and software.

AbleNet is an international company and calls itself a major player in the provision of educational and technical solutions to help children and adults with disabilities lead productive and fulfilled lives.

This includes a complete line of communication aids for nonverbal individuals; access aids, such as switches and wheelchair mounting devices for people who require physical supports; and special education classroom curriculum and software that both enhance and help ensure learning progress.

Earlier in October AbleNet had announced the PowerLink 4 control unit with expanded environmental control capabilities.

The enhancements are driven by advanced wireless technology and more user-friendly features, which allow the simultaneous operation of several electricity powered devices with ease and reliability.

The PowerLink is unique in the market, the first product to give switch control to individuals with disabilities. These individuals can now participate in learning activities or take control over their own participation in activities around their home, in schools or in their therapy sessions.

The new easy to use PowerLink gives customers wireless control of an even broader range of small electrical appliances.

The company claims that PowerLink is now a more powerful tool for clinicians and educators.

The new version offers additional modes of control, switch input jacks and AbleNet wireless technology. These modes of control include ‘Count Mode’ which records and displays the number of device activations. The ‘Two-Switch Mode’ allows two switches to be activated simultaneously to turn on any appliances; creating greater participation.
