Invensys Operations Management has reportedly
announced the commercial availability of its new EYESim virtual reality immersive training solution. With this technology, engineers and operators can see and safely interact with the plant and the processes they control, Invensys said.
While training the workers in plant operations, companies cannot take the risk of endangering their safety. So, the use of simulators is considered to be safe and productive as it involves no physical dangers. A good simulation technology combines virtual reality and immersive technology to provide a better output.
The EYESim solution makes use of gaming and other skill sets to offer its training environment. It also makes use of high-fidelity process and control simulation, computer-based maintenance and documentation management and other applications that helps in providing a realistic and safe training environment for improving operating efficiency and skills. To provide better simulations, the company makes use of its DYNSIM high-fidelity process simulator, FSIM Plus software, I/A Series control system emulation and other compatible programs.
“The increasing complexity of plants, combined with a changing workforce, demands next-generation tools that can safely and interactively train new operators and engineers without putting them, the community or the environment at risk," said Tobias Scheele, vice president, advanced applications, Invensys Operations Management, in a statement. “This system provides a stable, realistic environment for practicing routine operational and maintenance functions, as well as rarely performed volatile tasks such as plant shutdowns.”
The Invensys solution creates a computer-generated representation of either a real or proposed process plant by combining virtual plant imagery with screens from asset management or other application software. Trainees can move throughout the plant as they get a completely immersive environment.
Recently, the company
announced a number of partnerships with human-machine interface hardware manufacturers. It provides Invensys Operations Management's Wonderware InTouch HMI software in a Compact Edition form factor for Windows CE devices. The program was created in partnership with Advantech, Arista, Axiomtek, B&R Industrial Automation, Beckhoff Automation, Beijer Electronics, Kontron (
