Netronome Systems has announced the availability of the Netronome Programmer Studio. This comprehensive suite of intuitive and familiar software applications and tools has been designed for Netronome’s programmable Network Flow Processors and acceleration cards.
The Programmer Studio enables ease-of-use and rapid feature development by providing a graphical development environment and supporting high-level programming languages. The development kit is equipped with the required tools to support all phases of the project, and allows both software and hardware teams to simultaneously develop next-generation communications platforms that leverage the capabilities available in highly-programmable network flow processors.
Netronome Systems’ Programmer Studio is derived from the
Intel IXA software development kit (SDK), and improves upon the extensive investment in the widely used tools for the most popular network processor architecture.
Officials point out that their offering benefits both new and old users. New users leveraging the enhanced capabilities of Netronome’s Network Flow Processors (NFP) and Network Flow Engine (NFE) acceleration cards will benefit from a proven development environment. The developers who have already implemented IXP28XX designs will benefit from the common user interface and source-code compatibility between the IXP28XX and new products from Netronome.
The Netronome Programmer Studio also offers a number of key benefits including high-level programming language, investment protection and extension, choice of development platforms, extensive software libraries, advanced flow processing development tools, and industry-wide support.
Jim Finnegan, senior vice president of engineering at Netronome indicated that rapid feature development and investment protection have become very important to organizations. He explained that the Netronome Programmer Studio helps drive new products to market quickly through IXP28XX code compatibility with tool familiarity.
“Allowing developers to apply their preexisting knowledge to Netronome’s new products preserves their prior code and talent investments and greatly reduces cost, risk and time-to-market for next generation communications systems.”
