Advanced Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) has announced a partnership with
DataCore Software to help value-added resellers (VARs) deploy the latest storage virtualization solutions.
AIS allows VARs to access a broad array of DataCore software solutions. These solutions, company officials said, enable users to manage, provision, and allocate disk space on all storage devices attached to their storage area network (SAN).
“With storage virtualization, VARs offer their customers compelling, cost-effective solutions that ease many management issues while facilitating a greater return on investment for existing storage infrastructure,” said Amy Belcher, director of product marketing for AIS at Tech Data (

With DataCore storage virtualization software, a better utilization of storage devices attached to the SAN is possible by creating a virtual pool of storage capacity that can be allocated and provisioned in real time as per user demand.
Company officials said that this helps in centralized management of storage attached to a network serving home, branch and remote offices. In addition, this also facilitates comprehensive data replication, protection and security for business continuity; data migration between virtual disks to provide uninterrupted service during hardware upgrades; and more.
SANmelody and SANsymphony are the DataCore storage virtualization software available through Tech Data.
SANmelody converts virtual and physical servers into fully capable storage servers and high-availability iSCSI and FC SAN platforms, while SANsymphony is an open storage networking platform.
Officials said that SANmelody facilitates storage consolidation, disk utilization, centralized management, automated administration, and more.
SANsymphony has been designed for large-scale SANs to maximize the value of a company’s existing IT assets through storage virtualization and advanced management tools. Officials said that it increases storage utilization by creating a virtual global disk capacity.
Christian Hagen, vice president of sales for the Americas and EMEA at DataCore Software, said that DataCore virtualization software is an “excellent opportunity” for VARs to demonstrate strong value to their customers.
“This happens by fundamentally changing how VARs manage their storage, reducing costs and complexity while enhancing business critical applications such as disaster recovery,” said Hagen.
