SANBlaze Technology Receives Second Patent for its Storage Emulation Solution

SANBlaze (News - Alert) Technology, Inc., pioneer in SAN Emulation technologies and provider of storage solutions for embedded systems, has announced that it has received a second patent for “Method for testing a storage network including port level data handling,” for its storage emulation solution.

The second patent encases a solution for emulating targets within the computer memory, for receiving data from initiators and for delivering only a part of the received data to the computer memory. Since its launch in 2004, SANBlaze systems have enabled savings in millions of dollars and savings in time for storage developers as well as for test and QA engineers.

The storage emulation solution has been designed to provide full bandwidth testing simultaneously for all test clients. This can be achieved because of the internal memory bandwidth and paths to memory which is being de-coupled from devices getting tested attached to ports.

Any data which is delivered via the wire is either returned or discarded at the port or bus level. The method which has been integrated in the SANBlaze VirtuaLUN Software as the SANBlazter feature has proven to be critical for testing networks with high bandwidths and for conducting tests on large storage area networks.

In a release, Vince Asbridge, director of Systems and Software at SANBlaze, said that, “We are very happy to have been awarded a patent on this aspect of our storage testing method and solution. The product and invention represents 1000s of hours of software development and innovation. The addition of this patent combined with our latest product offerings solidifies SANBlaze as the leading innovator in storage emulation.”

Organizations which offer hardware and software storage solutions leverage the suite of storage emulation products form SANBlaze. One of the earlier offerings of the solutions which focused on emulating Fibre Channel targets have now been expanded to feature target side emulation and initiator solutions. The company in addition to Fibre Channel offers emulation solutions for storage protocols which include SAS (News - Alert), FCoE, and iSCSI.

In other news, SANBlaze Technology, Inc. recently announced the SB-ATCA7300 Intel (News - Alert) Architecture server blade.
