CCH Rolls Out SaaS Version of ProSystem fx Scan

Cloud computing is the most sought-after technology these days. Vendors intending to digitally organize 1040 source documents while in the Cloud can try the new software-as-a-Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) version of ProSystem fx Scan by CCH – a Wolters Kluwer business.

As a provider of tax, accounting and audit information, software and services, CCH offers ProSystem fx Suite, which provides productivity tools to streamline a business’ workflow in every practice area, thereby increasing the day-to-day productivity as well as address evolving staffing challenges.

As part of ProSystem fx Suite, the ProSystem fx Scan is a paperless system that automates the time-consuming tasks of gathering, organizing and bookmarking tax data from scanned source documents before being exported into CCH's (News - Alert) ProSystem fx Tax solution, according to sources.

The new SaaS version of ProSystem fx Scan is a secure web-based solution that provides all the benefits and functionalities of the on-premises version/ firm-hosted version, however in the Cloud. The Cloud version of Scan provides added convenience and cost savings associated with CCH providing the IT infrastructure.

The Cloud version of Scan is not only easy to use but will also help achieve immediate, dramatic improvements in efficiency and productivity, say officials with CCH in a press release.

Available by the end of 2011, the SaaS version of ProSystem fx Scan completely integrates with the company’s ProSystem fx Tax, ProSystem fx Document and ProSystem fx PDFlyerTM. This integration facilitates for effortless storage of client source documents and other scanned files in ProSystem fx Document and ProSystem fx Document (SaaS) using barcode technology - ready for instant retrieval.

Further extending CCH's suite of cloud solutions, the SaaS version of ProSystem fx Scan is supported by CCH AutoFlow Technology, which is a process that extracts data from 1040 client source documents to be imported into tax returns for comprehensive digital preparation.

Apart from extracting data from common 1040 source documents, the CCH AutoFlow Technology also: facilitates verification of extracted information; imports verified 1040 information directly into ProSystem fx Tax - in real-time; organizes detailed Gain and Loss statement information onto a pre-configured spreadsheet for easy reconciliation and import; and more.

Apart from AutoFlow Technology, the SaaS version of ProSystem fx Scan is also powered by ProSystem fx PDFlyer, which is a Acrobat plug-in designed to ease the tax preparation workflow process.

Precisely, the ProSystem fx PDFlyer allows professionals efficiently prepare 1040s using multiple PDF files in a paperless environment. It also enables users to: simultaneously move pages; merge multiple bookmarked PDF files into a single file, thereby combining the contents of common bookmarks; create and attach digital adding machine tapes; and more.

Bob Dias, CCH VP of tax product management, said in a statement, “The new (SaaS) version of ProSystem fx Scan offers all the same functionality as the on-premise product, but provides advantages for firms that prefer to convert information from the office to the cloud.”
