Black Duck Software Announces Major Enhancements in Code Sight 2.0

Black Duck Software (News - Alert), one of the leading organizations in open source software knowledge, adoption and governance, recently made an announcement that they will have major improvements added onto their Code Sight source code search engine. Once done, this will significantly enhance productivity for solo developers as well as global enterprise development companies. Black Duck Code Sight 2.0 is a source code search engine that can be scaled. It also indexes codes right across an enterprise and also version control systems. This gives developers a simple, easily accessible and improved visibility in code resources.  

Some of Code Sight 2.0 enhancements include its heightened search performance. It will look through a larger data base of code much faster than usual. It now also has an improved indexing performance and can do the job four to six times faster. It comes with highly advanced filtering techniques. The new and improved user interface will allow developers to filter down search results that are based on metadata. This ability to filter projects on an aggregate as well as enterprise-wide basis coupled with advanced searching and segmentation abilities allows for insightful ways of uncovering hidden code resources.

Enhanced administration is another aspect of this new and enhanced software. It comes enterprise-ready and with LDAP support. It has the power to allot roles and even mark an "indexer" for the group. Customized permissions can be included based on groups or people. A part of this is also the authorization as well as authentication based features. Servers for Code Sight server run on Linux as well as Microsoft Windows operating systems.
