PushToTest Unveils TestMaker Version 6.1

Open Source (News - Alert) Test (OST) company PushToTest announced the release of TestMaker 6.1 – the company’s distributed test environment, with improvements and bug fixes.

Campbell, California-based PushToTest has been offering open source application performance management and test automation solutions. Specifically, it is providing software testing orchestration platform along with cloud testing capabilities and outsourced testing solutions, as well as support, training, and consulting services to customers worldwide and through top-tier partnerships.

As a platform for test automation, service governance, and business service management, the TestMaker is the easiest way to move a team from manual functional testing of web applications to automated functional, load and performance tests, and production monitoring, say officials with PushToTest in a statement.

The latest version of TestMaker – the next generation web application, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA,) Business Process Management (BPM) testing platform – is ideal for testing applications with Rich Internet Application (RIA, using Ajax, Flex, Flash, Oracle (News - Alert) Forms, Applets,) and SOAP and REST Web Service interfaces.

Providing easier way to surface performance bottlenecks and functional issues in Web, RIA, SOA, and BPM applications, the Ajax and Flex Web application testing platform TestMaker 6 not only puts the PushToTest Methodology rapidly for a test tool that installs on desktop, runs tests in grid and cloud environments, and pinpoints root causes and offers mitigation, but also adds support for Flex 4 – the open source application framework that facilitates in building mobile applications.

Apart from being compatible with Linux OS, the TestMaker 6.1 also features: support for Oracle forms and Java Applet ; new results analysis charts, such as tabular views of resource monitoring and transaction details; easier SSL certificate management; and MySQL repository support.

Available as a free download from the website, TestMaker 6.1 repurposes Selenium, soapUI, Sahi, HTTP Archive (HAR,) and unit tests written in Java, Python, Ruby, and PHP to be functional tests, load and performance tests, and production monitors.

Operating tests in a developer's machine, in a grid of test servers, and in cloud computing environments, the TestMaker software is in use at PepsiCo, Deutsche Bank, Deloitte (News - Alert), Measured Progress, Gate Gourmet, and NetSpend, according to a press release.

In a press release, Frank Cohen (News - Alert), CEO and Founder at PushToTest, said, “TestMaker 6.1 furthers PushToTest's advantage of being the single open source platform for developers and testers needing to surface functional and performance issues through functional testing, load and performance testing, and production monitoring.”

According to a source, the previous release of TestMaker, version 6.0, was released in April. The TestMaker 6 featured the new TestMaker Object Designer for record/playback of RIA; an advanced Test Runtime Kerne; and more.
