Riverbed Debuts Stingray Asymmetric Software- and Virtual-Based Offerings

Riverbed (News - Alert) Technology, the IT performance company, announced that it has unveiled Riverbed Stingray, a new portfolio of asymmetric software- and virtual-based offerings.

In a release Cindy Borovick, program vice president of Enterprise Communications and Datacenter Networks (News - Alert) at IDC said, “The virtual application delivery market is growing rapidly as enterprise customers continue optimizing datacenter deployments through consolidation as well as migrating to both public and private cloud environments.”

“Riverbed is helping accelerate this growth as Stingray provides enterprise customers with a simple, yet powerful and flexible solution that integrates into their application stack and quickly optimizes and accelerates applications hosted in the cloud,” Borovick added.

The new offering includes application delivery controllers (ADC (News - Alert)), Web content optimization (WCO) and Web application firewalls. Also it adds to Riverbed’s wide area network (WAN) optimization, application-aware network performance management (NPM) and cloud storage gateway solutions.

It was revealed that the Stingray product family is based on technologies acquired from Zeus Technology (News - Alert) and Aptimize Limited in July 2011.

Riverbed is able to deliver performance from the application to the end user via its optimized products. It also creates enhanced end-user experience, increased productivity among employees and reduction in IT infrastructure costs in the data center, cloud and branch office.

Officials added that the Stingray product family encompasses Stingray Traffic Manager, Stingray Web Application Firewall and Stingray Aptimizer which will be available in several cost-effective configurations for small and medium businesses (SMBs) and enterprises.

Enterprises will be able to migrate to and benefit from the modern data center architectures by providing flexible application delivery across private and public clouds. Riverbed Stingray helps enterprises to host applications in any physical, virtual or cloud environment besides letting them cost-effectively scale application acceleration and optimization on-demand as and when required.

Apurva Davé, vice president of marketing and product management, Stingray Business Unit at Riverbed said, “Riverbed performance solutions are the intelligent layer that rides on top of an organization’s IT infrastructure, providing the ability to offer every employee, customer, partner and end-user a local-like experience.”

According to Davé, the Stingray product family optimizes virtualized data centers, and offers three additional tools for enterprises when they migrate to the cloud and deliver greater performance from data centers, private and public clouds.
