JouleX Partners with Triton Federal Solutions for Energy Management

JouleX, a provider of enterprise energy management systems, recently announced a partnership with Triton Federal Solutions, a Project Performance Corporation company, to implement and integrate the JouleX Energy Manager “JEM” technology for commercial and federal customers.

According to company officials, the solution will enable customers like the Department of Energy to save energy and reduce their economic, environmental and social impacts. Both companies have already begun work within the Department of Energy to measure, manage and evaluate energy usage in its data centers at a granular level.

The JouleX Energy Manager automatically monitors and controls the dynamic energy consumption of all devices across an enterprise to populate energy and utilization information into a customer's decision-support systems. The information can be interpreted to help make an intelligent decision for making their data center more sustainable.

JEM also provides insight into procurement practices that factor energy consumption into purchasing decisions; to see how and where energy is consumed and wasted; to identify and prioritize energy- and cost-savings opportunities; and to enact measures to reduce their energy consumption, according to company officials.

"Creating improved IT infrastructure efficiencies that lead to significant cost reductions is of growing importance to federal agencies, especially in light of the increased budget pressures they're facing," said Scott Paisley, America’s technical director of JouleX.

"Triton's expertise in decision support, made possible by the energy intelligence our solution generates, provides the Department of Energy and other agencies the efficiencies they need to make a dramatic sustainability impact."

Tom Noonan, President and CEO of JouleX also recently sat down with TMC (News - Alert) CEO Rich Tehrani at Interop 2011 in Las Vegas to talk a little more about the company. See that video below.

Project Performance Corporation (PPC) developed Data Center Energy Profiler or “DC Pro,” in 2008, under the U.S. Department of Energy Industrial Technologies Program. The solution is a Web-based, decision support system designed to help industries worldwide identify how energy is being purchased and consumed by their data centers and what can be done to begin saving energy and money as well as reducing carbon emissions.

DC Pro uses data center information, including information on the systems that use energy as well as the breakout of dynamic energy consumption that can be provided by JouleX, to create a customized report for each user.

In addition, the system also provides information on current energy use and cost per unit of production; annual available energy graphs and tables; potential annual energy-savings graphs and tables; assessment of the data center's energy usage compared to others on record; and a customized list of next steps that can be automatically implemented.

"JouleX provides an energy management system that will add tremendous value to our Data Center Energy Profiler customers," said Neil Wright, chief architect and innovation officer for Triton, in a statement. "JouleX's agentless, network-based architecture provides a unique solution for monitoring, analyzing and controlling energy consumption in the data center.”

JouleX also recently announced it received $17 million in investment capital from new investors Sigma Partners, Flybridge Capital Partners and Intel (News - Alert) Capital, in addition to existing investors Target Partners and TechOperators. JouleX plans to use the capital to expand its development and sales footprint into growth markets around the world.
