TCS Building New Ecosystems Without Boundaries to Drive Joint Value

If we look at how technology has matured over the last decade, we can see that it is becoming increasingly connected. Technology that we could only dream of to make our lives easier and efficient twenty years ago, in a vast array of sectors of industry is constantly being developed, evolving and becoming a reality.

These industries, whether they be smart homes, IoT connected devices, smart transport services, etc. although connected through their technology, continue to operate as separate ecosystems. The big question is, where does connectivity go from here and is there a way to bridge the gap and collaborate?

Sanjay Karve, Global Head of Innovation and Transformation Group, Manufacturing Industry Solutions Unit at Tata Consultancy Services believes that partnerships across separate ecosystems will form, uniting diverse players from different industries to drive joint value.

“Ecosystems are important to bring diverse players together to provide exponential value to the end customer. Traditional tiered or siloed models are giving way to a more symbiotic relationship - all enabled by technology.” Says Sanjay.

Founded in 1968, now with approximately 417,929 employees worldwide, Tata Consultancy (News - Alert) Services (TCS) is a global leader in information technology services and consultancy headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is part of the Tata Group which operates in 46 countries around the world. In 2015, TCS was ranked 64th overall in the Forbes World’s Most Innovative Companies ranking and is also the world’s second largest IT services provider.

“The nature and size of the investments in a lot of spaces are forcing competitors to come together to develop base technologies on which they can then build differentiation.” Sanjay continues. “TCS recognizes this need for building ecosystems and is uniquely placed to facilitate this through its extensive customer base across 10 industry verticals. Sitting in the middle of these customers gives us a unique perspective to enable bringing together different players to create a collaborative ecosystem.”

TCS was recently awarded World Class Center 2018 by the Association of Briefing Program Managers (ABPM) for their Executive Briefing Center (EBC) which is a unique experiential setup, where they showcase their latest capabilities and solutions for strategic collaboration and the co-creation of significant value with our customers and prospects.

Leveraging the ecosystem is an integral part of TCS Business 4.0 enablement framework for its customers, prospects, and audience. TCS has multiple structures in place to promote this way of thinking:

Innovation Days: Annual innovation days are held in the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific where customers are brought together with people from academia and start-ups to engage in thought leadership and engage in forward-looking conversations. They are typically driven by current themes and issues which provides a common platform for different stakeholders to interact and network to be able to form future working relationships.

Client-Specific Innovation Events: These events are built around a client’s theme and bring together TCS thought leaders from similar industry domains. TCS technology leaders, start-up partners, and enterprise technology partners come together to identify joint opportunities based on mutual interest.

Co-Innovation Network: The TCS Coin™ team, led by TCS’ CTO team work together with venture capital companies, accelerators, academics, and start-ups to identify exciting new avenues, solutions, and technologies, in turn, to encompass these within the TCS ecosystem with a vision to positioning them with their customers.

Research & Development Labs: TCS’ CTO team lead the work in their diverse R&D labs which work with academia to address problems in the industry in context with their customers.

Tata Consultancy Services (News - Alert) have put in place these mechanisms to help cut across any segment and build meaningful partnerships across industries. By focusing on what brings value to its customers, leveraging their knowledge, unique market positioning, and the power of multiple stakeholders, TCS is striving to build an ecosystem without boundaries.
