Wheelings & Dealings: Cybric Rakes in $1.3 Million

Security virtualization and threat vulnerability remediation specialist Cybric has received $1.3 million in seed funding. The infusion will be used to speed up research and product development of the company’s continuous security delivery fabric, which offers a unified view of enterprises’ entire security infrastructure.

The goal of this unified approach is to simplify and reduce the time between vulnerability identification and remediation, both on premises and in the cloud. Components of the offering include the FabricVUE interface, which enables companies to view their security posture and KPIs through a unified view, and FabricOPS, which enables creation and automation of policy BRICs to enforce scanning, scheduling and remediation policies.

Cybric’s offering is available on demand, 24/7, and also includes the FabricRX for automatic remediation and enforcement of threat and vulnerability fixes. The FabricHUB component is geared toward developers, enabling them to build secure apps within continuous development frameworks.

"Cybersecurity solutions today require significant human capital, which often results in productivity gaps, while the scanning and remediation processes occur serially -- requiring the previous one to complete before starting the next step," said Ernesto DiGiambattista, CEO and founder of Cybric. "By automating and virtualizing the entire process offline in a shadow environment, our solution can run all scanning and remediation in parallel, offloading resources from production and allowing real-time threat identification, isolation and remediation."

According to Doug Cahill, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy group, the cybersecurity market is overloaded with disparate point tools which require specialized knowledge to operate properly. A virtualized and holistic approach to security like Cybric’s fabric enables automation, key to reducing the time between identifying and remediating vulnerabilities while also helping enterprises save time and money.

Cybric’s seed funding round was led by Petrillo Capital along with angel and strategic investors. In addition to DiGiambattista, who previously worked at Sentinel Benefits & Security, Cybric is led by chief innovation officer Mike Kail, the former CIO of Yahoo. Other key administrators include COO Andrew Gilman of Dell (News - Alert), EqualLogic and Actifio, and chief design officer Sean Walter of Actifio.
