What Companies Must Leave Behind to Migrate to the Cloud

Moving business operations and processes to the cloud is never an easy task. There are always unclear steps, including the due diligence to vet solution providers, clearly identifying needs and ensuring the right tools are in place to protect the network and its users. The benefits are clear and measurable, as long as you have a proven path to get there.

Secure Infrastructure & Services (SIAS) built a strong reputation on its ability to help companies successfully move to the cloud. The managed services provider delivers solutions for IBM (News - Alert) Power Systems hosting, such as Linux, AIX hosting and IBM hosting. Mid-market firms built on IBM hardware platforms can easily deploy new solutions to enable reliable and cost-effective cloud capabilities.

In working with SIAS, IBM customers gain the ability to completely embrace the benefits available through cloud computing, including storage, production capacity, disaster recovery services and high availability. Companies can then position their operations for growth, leveraging the full strength and capabilities available in the cloud. By partnering with a proven provider, companies can worry less about security and focus on the gained benefits available only through cloud computing.

To expand on these capabilities, Brad Akey, Director of Partner Development for SIAS recently joined Diana Bishop in the TMC newsroom at ITEXPO (News - Alert). One thing Akey highlighted is the fact that as companies throughout the marketplace are migrating to the cloud, there are a lot of old legacy systems still out there that need to be retired. SIAS specialists already know IBM infrastructure can help these companies make a smooth transition. At the same time, the company supports all brands and can leverage their partner program to expand this portfolio.

Said Akey, “What’s really happening now is a huge migration to the cloud. It’s a generational change in the way IT is managed. The past 30-40 years, the way companies manage IT is they buy the equipment and they manage it themselves. Now, instead of buying new equipment they are leveraging the cloud that they can just plug into.

“That is making resellers who have been servicing them for decades lose them because they don’t have any way to support them. That is where we step in. We allow them to private label our solution which allows them to hold onto those customers. We also do a full marketing campaign that we fund to get the word out to their customers, and get them sales tools to make it easy.”
