Wheelings & Dealings: HGS Acquires Colibrium to Boost Healthcare Offerings

Hinduja Global Solutions (HGS), an Indian provider of business process outsourcing (BPO) services, has acquired U.S.-based Colibrium Partners and Colibrium Direct (Colibrium), a provider of sales automation and customer relationship management (CRM) solutions for the health insurance industry. Under the terms of this agreement HGS now owns an 89.9 percent stake in Colibrium, while its founders will retain 10.1 percent.

Colibrium’s product range offers healthcare companies indispensable tools for ensuring highest-quality customer interactions and maximizing sales. Colibrium’s Tuo Sales and Marketing solution offers extensive CRM capabilities including marketing augmentation, campaign management and segmentation to improve the effectiveness of marketing efforts, whereas the Tuo Dynamics CRM platform provides out-of-the-box marketing, sales, care management and service automation tools. Tuo Service provides intuitive online self-service capabilities to improve responsiveness and guarantee the free flow and accuracy of information. Tuo Wellness is a set of tools for comprehensive management of the entire wellness cycle, and Colibrium Direct is the company’s robust telesales and BPO solution.

Colibrium reported revenues of $12.6 million in 2014, a clear indicator of its appeal to HGS as the company continues to focus on expanding its BPO capabilities and customer base, especially in the U.S. HGS acquired Extended Business Office Solutions (EBOS), a healthcare revenue cycle outsourcing company, in 2012 when it first began growing in this area.

“With more than 30 clients, a technology platform and several hundred licensed health insurance agents, this investment in the health insurance market represents a competitive advantage for HGS,” said Partha DeSarkar, CEO of HGS.

“Colibrium brings sales and marketing capabilities and depth to provide health insurance companies comprehensive people, process and technology solutions to improve member acquisition and retention results,” added Ramesh Gopalan, Executive Vice President of HGS Healthcare Services.

HGS provides a variety of BPO solutions such as back office processing, contact center services and customized information technology enabled services (ITES). The company’s global customer base includes several Fortune 500 companies.
