Telefonica Adds Disaster Recovery as a Service to Its VDC Offering

Telefonica (News - Alert), a telecommunications company, recently announced that its VDC clients now have the option to make use of its virtual private networks technology and Zerto’s virtual replication to cost-effectively build applications for the cloud and in the cloud. The Telefonica VDC is equipped with Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) that safeguards mission critical applications and make them readily available even during disasters.

Ziv Kedem, founder and chief executive officer at Zerto, stated, “With the introduction of this offering, Telefonica is demonstrating its commitment to providing user-friendly, storage-agnostic DR that delivers value. Service providers like Telefonica are increasingly eager to offer DR services that seamlessly align with their cloud environments and meet the rigorous standards their customers expect.”

Telefonica explained that the Zerto replication solution is natively integrated with every layer of VDC 2.0, which guarantees a powerful solution in terms of RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective). Zerto’s replication enables automated data recovery, failover and failback and does not demand any storage configuration or installation. The DRaaS lets users to host their critical applications in the cloud and also the ability to duplicate virtual machines over different data centers.

The company stressed that its cloud-based solutions are modular, scalable and flexible and they are physically secure and redundant, with contingency solutions operated and maintained around the clock.   

Telefonica asserted that it understands the importance of business continuity and the essential measures companies need to take in order to safeguard information in case of unexpected disasters. With the new VDC DRaaS offering from Telefonica, one can ensure the protection and availability of their important data and receive the full benefits of cloud automation. Telefonica’s business continuity options also bring down the downtime risks through minimizing single points of failure.
