Neonode Announces Ground-Breaking Technology zForce EDGE

The optical-touch technology company, Neonode (News - Alert) Inc. recently launched an innovative technology, called zForce EDGE.

Officials said that zForce EDGE provides flush, edge-to-edge, glare-free multi-touch for Notebooks, All-In-One PCs, and PC Monitors.

PC OEMs, with the help of this technology are able to offer effortless edge-to-edge flush industrial designs for PC devices without requiring a cover glass/ITO touch sensor.

Benefiting from the new IPS LCD modules with ultra-small bezels, Neonode's zForce EDGE is able to maximize the active display area, which ultimately brings a glare-free user experience, optimal image quality and a significant reduction in weight.

Additionally, zForce EDGE offers a smooth touch experience and optimized power management, at cost savings, which is more than 50 percent as compared with projected capacitance technologies.

For Neonode, the PC market brings a vast growth opportunity.  The notebook market size is around 190 million devices annually with only a 20 percent touch attachment rate, whereas AIO PC's and PC Monitors are both under 5 percent touch attachment rates. Together they represent more than 140 million annual device sales.

In recent times, the touch connect rate for notebooks, AIO's and monitors have been limited because of the high cost and substandard user experience of existing technologies.

The newly launched zForce EDGE solves this with its low total cost and elimination of the cover glass.

"Neonode's business plan is focused on enabling touch in all PC devices. With zForce EDGE we now offer industry-leading design freedom and usability. In order to ease design-in and reduce costs our partners can now provide zForce EDGE as a complete touch module. Neonode is currently collaborating with multiple tier-one OEMs on designs, and with multiple ODMs on reference designs," said Thomas Eriksson, CEO of Neonode.
