SSH Communications Security Debuts Secure Shell HealthCheck

SSH Communications (News - Alert) Security, a company that specializes in developing advanced security solutions has announced the release of its new governance, risk and compliance (GRC) service called, Secure Shell HealthCheck, aimed particularly at data center.

In the current market scenario, many businesses rely on Secure Shell for privileged access to systems and data across the enterprise, yet few organizations have ever examined their deployments of Secure Shell for data breach risk and compliance exposures. Secure Shell HealthCheck comes in handy during such situation as it an security assessment service that delivers a detailed analysis of how Secure Shell is deployed and used in in data center environments.

Secure Shell HealthCheck makes use of SSH Communications Security’s technology expertise, the company’s’ custom developed scanning and reporting software to offer a service that is fast, efficient and effective. Most of the tools do not require software agents to be installed and do not make any changes on the user’s hosts. No private keys are collected or moved.

This service provides a detailed history of the Secure Shell environment including trust maps, SSH key locations and separation of duties plus ten other significant risk areas. It also recommends solution for various blockage areas in the network.

Kalle Jääskeläinen, vice president, product management and services, SSH Communications Security said, "At many enterprises there is a lack of awareness of the role Secure Shell plays in critical day-to-day operations. Secure Shell key-based authentications can easily outnumber many other logins within the data center. While companies have implemented access controls and management procedures for employee login and external facing web applications, even basic security controls like key size, strength and type, rotation and de-provisioning are not part of the IT regimen for data center access controls.”

Jääskeläinen said that the Secure Shell HealthCheck service provides the actionable information needed to improve security and access controls.
