GeneralTouch Launches PIT C and C+ Multi-Touchscreen Designs

As a user interface (UI), touch screens have made their way on to smartphones, tablets and PCs with the latter receiving lukewarm reception. However, the technology is invaluable for commercial applications across many different industries, and more organizations are using it to improve customer interaction with self-service kiosks at banks, hotels, museums, schools and many other locations. GeneralTouch, a global provider of touch products and solutions, has announced the introduction of its new PIT C and C+ multi-touchscreen designs for its proprietary Projected Infrared Touch (PIT) technology.

The technology the company has developed makes it possible for organizations to implement touch screen capabilities on a wide range of screen size supporting up to 84" multi-touchscreens for the PIT C and 46" multi-touchscreens for the PIT C+.

The PIT platform has a front bezel that is slimmer because of the new manufacturing process the company has developed. Unlike traditional infrared (IR) touch screens which required an additional frame to house and fix the touch sensor strips to connect the whole frame with the back cover, the C and C+ completely do away with the housing frame. This is accomplished by making the strips containing the refracting diodes with aluminum alloy and attaching them directly to the back cover.

This process reduces the bezel dimensions making them much thinner than the competition’s infrared touchscreens with a width of 9mm and a low depth of 3.9mm for the PIT C+. Because the PIT C uses larger infrared diodes to accommodate the large 84” screens, the dimensions are slightly larger with a width of 11.5mm and a depth of 5mm, but according to the company it is still slimmer than other IR touch screens. GeneralTouch PIT C and C+ have proprietary technology with 10-point touch, ultra-low pre-touch height and palm rejection.

GeneralTouch manufactures a wide range of touchscreen, touch monitor products and solutions that can be deployed across different industries with customized applications to address the needs of their customers. Industries ranging from gaming to finance have used this flexible platform to deliver a simplified interface that can be used by virtually everyone.
