Cloud-based applications are perhaps a little more vulnerable to inbound attacks and Internet threats, but the strong combination of Barracuda’s firewalls and Azure can reportedly provide the required arsenal to keep predators at bay. Tesco-owned movie and TV streaming service –blinkbox - chose this powerful combination to protect its applications.
Microsoft (News - Alert) Azure is an open and flexible cloud platform that enables users to quickly build, deploy and manage applications, while Barracuda helps secure applications hosted in Windows Azure. Together, they deliver ‘security as a service;’ blinkbox thus had no qualms about entrusting its valuable catalogue of more than 20,000 movies and TV episode to the Azure cloud.
blinkbox was growing rapidly, both in terms of customers and titles. Application availability and security were top priorities, as was retaining and maintaining customer confidence. It needed an enterprise data center that was flexible, offered high-bandwidth, and was high on security. blinkbox got all that and more with the Barracuda Web Application Firewall and Microsoft Azure.
"At blinkbox, the application is our business," said Sarju Mashru, principal IT operations engineer lead at blinkbox, adding, "It absolutely has to be available, secure, and provide a seamless user experience.”
With Azure, users can build applications using any language, tool or framework, and also integrate the public cloud with the existing IT environment. The Barracuda Web Application Firewall is reported to be the first integrated, fully scalable security solution on Windows Azure.
The Barracuda Firewall is a part of the Azure Gallery and enables customers to deploy secure, multi-tier networks within Windows Azure, while providing high-performance connectivity to Windows Azure from branch offices and client devices
"Microsoft Azure and the Barracuda Web Application Firewall provide everything that our company requires. Additional layers of security from the Barracuda Web Application Firewall ensure that we can operate as securely as possible," observed Mashru.
blinkbox couldn’t have asked for better.
