Trimble Announces Acquisition of Assets of The Omega Group

Trimble (News - Alert), which applies technology to make field and mobile workers in businesses and government significantly more productive, has acquired the assets of privately-held The Omega Group, headquartered in San Diego, California.

The Omega Group is a provider of analysis-driven decision support, performance management, and electronic briefing services to public safety agencies. Omega uses cloud-based data management, intelligence, analytics, mapping & visualization services to sift through disparate data sources to identify incident and offender trends, patterns, and correlations which help determine agency strategic and tactical priorities and associated patrol resource allocations.

The Omega Group has over 500 law enforcement and public safety clients.

Financial terms of acquisition were not disclosed.

Officials with Trimble said that the acquisition adds enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS), big data/analytics, and mobility-driven capabilities to the company’s portfolio of traffic, crash reporting, and crash/crime scene reconstruction solutions.

“The adoption of information technology continues to grow in public safety as agencies are concerned with preempting criminal activity, allocating and deploying resources, reducing response times, and most importantly, increasing safety for their communities,” said Bill Martin, general manager of Trimble's Public Safety division, in a statement.

Advanced Public Safety (APS) is a member of Trimble's Public Safety group of companies, developing innovative technology solutions specifically designed to address the challenges of today's public safety agencies. APS is a leader in voice solutions, electronic ticketing applications, reporting and data transfer to courts, and record management systems (RMS).

“By expanding our public safety portfolio to include The Omega Group's data intelligence and analysis solutions, we are offering a set of comprehensive tools to transform the way law enforcement, fire and EMS work with data-driven approaches to enhance safety in their communities,” said Martin.

Milan Mueller, president of The Omega Group said that public safety agencies are under immense pressure to deliver the same level of service to their communities with significantly reduced budgets.

“Our job is to provide public safety practitioners at all levels of the organization with the information they need to make the right decisions and take the right actions to keep their communities safe and informed. This capability is especially important when faced with budget constraints,” said Mueller.

Mueller said that the addition of The Omega Group products to the existing Trimble Public Safety portfolio provides a comprehensive enterprise solution designed to provide decision makers data-driven insights in support of their decision making, resulting in effective and efficient use of limited resources.
