Today’s cybercriminals have access to massive amount of computing power. Whether it is through rogue government operations such as the recent revelation of Chinese army operatives, organized crime, hacktivist or just plain hackers looking to break the security system of a network, digital assets are under relentless threat 24/7/365. It is therefore extremely important for organizations to have security specialists versed in the many ways in which the vulnerabilities of a network can be exploited. EarthLink, a managed network and cloud services provider, is ensuring the security of its organization by announcing industry expert Peter Chronis has been appointed to the new role of Chief Security Officer.
As organizations start waking up to the realization of how critical security is in today's environment, they are creating seats in the C-Suite for security officers. Mr. Chronis comes to this position after more than 15 years of experience in leading all aspects of company information security and IT risk management programs in the telecommunications, healthcare, financial and IT services industries.
Pete Chronis has CISSP, CISA, and PMP certification and before joining EarthLink he developed propriety fraud detection systems for Lynk Systems, a financial services tech startup that was acquired by the Royal Bank of Scotland for $550M. The system he developed and implemented was one of the most effective credit card risk management and chargeback platforms in the industry.
He also managed the special IT project portfolio at Valued Services/CompuCredit which included the Purpose Loans project, a $6 million dollar web based installment loan product development initiative with 25 offshore resources in four countries and more than 60 team members.
