ZyXEL Unveils New Series of Unified Threat Management (UTM) Systems

Broadband networking brings entertainment, banking, education, telemedicine, virtual conferencing and many other applications into the room. But, with it comes problems, caused by cyber-attacks, malware, phishing and other threats. In order to protect enterprise networks and businesses, a robust detection and prevention system is needed.

ZyXEL Communications (News - Alert), a provider of secure broadband networking, Internet access, connected home and routing products, launched a new series of unified threat management (UTM) systems.

The new UTM solutions incorporate optimum features like firewall / VPN throughput, deep packet SSL inspection, anti-malware protection and social networking control. The product line includes an advanced series of solutions and a performance series of solutions. The former is designed for SMBs, with enterprise-class features for ensuring always-on network protection.

The performance series includes wired and wireless UTM gateways that can deliver a truly integrated security solution that will suit the needs of remote offices, retail locations and small businesses.

ZyXEL UTM product line helps SMBs maintain high system throughout, even with security services turned on, in addition to streamlining systems management with a simplified user interface. The integrated management interface simplifies security provisioning for SMBs and solution providers.

Steven Joe (News - Alert), executive vice president for channel business for Americas at ZyXEL, said, “In addition to the performance driven UTMs, ZyXEL has created a comprehensive solution package with security, warranty and technical support services, offering unmatched profitability and recurring revenue to channel partners.”

Officials added that the new USG line will suit the needs of SMBs by providing anti-malware from technology partners like Kaspersky, besides also granular social networking control powered by application intelligence. Application intelligence can identify, categorize and control more than 3,000 social, gaming, productivity and other Web applications and behaviors. This enhances productivity and prevents bandwidth abuse.

Also, the new ZyXEL USG line features a unified management interface which offers single point of control for firewall, IDP, anti-virus, content filtering and application control. This allows the establishing of consistent policies for different user groups within an organization, such as marketing, purchase and so on.
