Accellion Introduces Integrated DRM Features to Protect Documents and Improve Productivity

As more organizations are deploying mobile work forces, and with the trend of employees working from home, it has become necessary to secure information exchanges to avoid data breaches. Enterprise organizations require a suitable means to protect confidential information which is exchanged over various types of new mobile devices.

Accellion, a provider of secure enterprise solutions that enhance mobile productivity, has introduced new user-friendly, integrated digital rights management (DRM) features in its kiteworks solution.

The solution controls the viewing, copying and altering of shared documents which will help corporations and government agencies to prevent enterprise data leakage. The new features added in the kiteworks solution will augment security controls which will help share sensitive and confidential information.

Users can securely share a file in a View Only mode with document watermarking and full-content search. The new view only feature prevents recipients from downloading, forwarding, or copying and pasting any part of the file. Critical documents can be viewed with high fidelity on a mobile device or Web browser enabling IT to maintain full control and visibility.

The watermarking feature further enhances file security as recipients will only receive an image of the file which carries a custom watermark. It is not an editable document. Watermarking will support the ‘view only’ feature as viewers cannot capture images of the document and use it for some other purpose.

The full content search feature allows users to search for and highlight key words or phrases within the online viewer on a mobile or Web interface.

kiteworks will also enable the withdrawal of a file, a feature which will help senders in making changes in case they have sent a file to the wrong person or sent a wrong file by oversight.

According to Vidhya Ranganathan, SVP of product at Accellion, the DRM features further augment the enterprise security features that are already available in kiteworks. The new features also include a three-tier private cloud architecture as well as data segregation. Both mobile and Web users will benefit from this additional layer of security to their critical documents.

Within the Activity Stream users will be able to resend files that they have sent to a recipient and also forward the same files to more collaborators. All the features of the kiteworks solution are designed to help enhance businesses and business productivity by providing optimum data security.
