CiRBA to Join Red Hat's ManageIQ Community

CiRBA Inc., a provider of Automated Capacity Control software, is joining Red Hat’s (News - Alert) ManageIQ community.

Red Hat, Inc., a provider of open source solutions, recently announced the formation of the ManageIQ community, which aims to provide the industry's leading open source cloud management platform with advanced governance and automation capabilities.

Officials with Red Hat said that the ManageIQ community is Red Hat’s latest contribution to the OpenStack ecosystem, and this community takes the next step in bringing together developers, service providers, system integrators, researchers and users for collaborating and driving innovation in the management of OpenStack and open hybrid clouds.

”Automation is a key goal for the OpenStack community, and CiRBA fills a critical gap by automatically determining the optimal placements for workloads based on workload patterns, technical requirements and business policies, ” said Andrew Hillier, co-founder and CTO of CiRBA, in a statement.

Hillier said that CiRBA’s customers include many of the world’s largest organizations, and they rely on the company’s capacity control capabilities to optimize placements for hundreds of thousands of VMs in their virtual and private cloud infrastructure.

“We are very pleased to bring an enterprise-grade solution for capacity control to the ManageIQ community,” he said.

Officials with CiRBA said that the company already offers an API-level integration to OpenStack, enabling more advanced resource scheduling for self-service requests. This API also provides the ability to proactively route workloads and book capacity based on future application needs, adding a hotel-booking element to any cloud deployment.

Company officials pointed out that as part of the ManageIQ community, CiRBA plans to integrate these advanced placement and booking capabilities with the broader cloud management platform.

”We are pleased to welcome CiRBA to the ManageIQ Community and look forward to integrating their unique automation capabilities into an open cloud management environment,” said Joe Fitzgerald, general manager, cloud management, Red Hat.

Fitzgerald said that workload routing and balancing provides an integral piece to cloud management strategy, and the company looks forward to CiRBA’s code contributions so more users, especially in the OpenStack community, can experience the benefits of an open cloud management platform atop their private cloud deployments.
