SendWordNow Proves its Mettle

Emergencies don’t occur every day, but when they do, untold chaos and disruption occurs. The question is, can you handle it? You can, if incident management and emergency notification services are a part of your business continuity plan, and the law firm of Sweeney & Sheehan, P.C., couldn’t agree more.

When the firm, which represents clients throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey, selected Send Word Now, the provider of critical communications services, little did it realize how useful it would be -- and how soon.

"When we made the decision to incorporate Send Word Now into our business continuity plan, we never imagined we would need to utilize the service so soon," said Joanne Miraglia, office administrator for Sweeney & Sheehan. "And we certainly didn't think we would need to activate it two times in one week due to snow and ice."

The best part was that the law firm was able to use the service and the provider’s technical support team in advance of system implementation, and at such short notice.

Winter storms in February threw businesses out of gear and everything had to be rescheduled. Communications was down, it was hard to get in touch with employees – but thanks to SendWordNow’s alerting system, which is designed to reach anyone, anywhere, anytime, with any device, over any type of connection, the law firm could alert staff of February office closures and altered business hours.

Miraglia was able to import the firm's emergency contact data and launch its first emergency notification, and within a very short span of time, everyone –including managing partners, attorneys and employees received voice and text messages, letting them know the office would be closed the following day.

Two days later, when another winter storm caused the firm to open late, Sweeney & Sheehan again sent another opening-late notification.  A third weather-related activation took place on Sunday, March 2, as snowfall again prompted the firm to delay its opening as a safety precaution to staff.

Apparently SendWordNow lived up to its reputation of ensuring fast, effective, two-way communication in real-time, when it matters most.
