AMD FirePro R5000 Remote GPU Cloud Solution Tested and Certified

AMD (News - Alert) recently announced that its AMD FirePro R5000 remote graphics card has not only completed successful testing but has also been approved and certified by Autodesk (News - Alert), Bentley, Dassault Systèmes and Siemens PLM software. The new graphics card will enable safe and remote professional graphics application performance in the cloud.

The AMD FirePro R5000, a single-card, flexible, and secure remote graphics solution has been designed to empower remote professional graphics application performance in the cloud, benefiting creative and engineering professionals.

In a release, David Cummings, senior director and GM, Professional Graphics, AMD, said, "These certifications are a true testament to AMD's software support and our commitment to developing market-leading professional graphics solutions. Ultimately, we are proud to provide a consistent, world-class experience for our workstation users. With the AMD FirePro R5000 remote graphics, we enable design and engineering professionals to work effectively and more productively in a cloud environment."

The AMD FirePro R5000, an innovative solution, is based on Teradici’s powerful TERA2240 host processor which enables relocation of Windows or Linux-based workstations into the datacenter and the ability to connect remotely without impacting application performance. Other key features and benefits include multi-monitor 3D and video support enabling effortless multi-tasking; secure computing supports fully encrypted sessions with pixel transmissions; GeometryBoost doubles the rate of primitive and vertex processing by allowing the GPU to process geometry data at twice its normal rate; energy efficient design with a single-slot form factor that consumes  less than 150W maximum power; and supported by AMD PowerTune technology, an intelligent system that performs real-time analysis of GPU-based applications.

Olivier Favre, director of product management, Teradici, said, "CAD, CAE and CAM workstation users demand uncompromised remote access to feature-rich 3D content and graphics acceleration and we're proud to work with AMD to deliver that using AMD FirePro R5000 remote graphics. Together, AMD and Teradici are delivering a secure remote workstation experience to users of high performance graphics applications in the cloud. For power users on-the-go, Teradici PCoIP Software Clients and Zero Clients enable remote workstation mobility and full-performance access in the enterprise."

The complete list of certified applications include Autodesk’s AutoCAD 2014/2013/2012, Inventor 2014, and Revit 2014/2013/2012; Bentley’s MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 3); Dassault Systèmes’ SOLIDWORKS 2014/2013/2012; and Siemens (News - Alert) PLM Software’s NX 8.5/8.0, Teamcenter Visualization 8.01/8.0/2007, Tecnomatix 9.1.2, and Solid Edge ST6.
