MMD Unveils Android-Powered Philips Smart All-in-One Touch-Controlled Monitors

MMD, the brand license partner for Philips (News - Alert) Monitors, has unveiled new touch-controlled monitors that will be suitable for use with multimedia, gaming and quick Internet access. The Android-powered Philips Smart all-in-one monitors are connected, portable and are available with on-board computing power.

“There is growing demand for hybrid devices that make the user experience easier,” said Thomas Schade, vice president EMEA at MMD. “The Smart All-In-One gives users the best of both worlds: easy, integrated access to Android (News - Alert) apps, and the brilliant display performance and much larger screen of the 21.5-inch or 23-inch Philips monitor.”

The all-in-one displays with inbuilt computing power will deliver a seamless display experience which can be installed at homes and in public locations.

Incorporating the Philips display quality, the monitors feature brilliant 16:9 widescreen viewing with full HD. The devices provide sharp, flicker-free progressive scan pictures enabling an immersive entertainment experience with optimized viewing quality and stereo sound.

As the monitors have the built-in functionality feature, it enables direct access to the Google (News - Alert) Play Store allowing users to enjoy one-touch access to applications for gaming, news, social networking and more.

Online gaming gets enhanced with Android games, the spacious screen and full-touch capabilities. Online social networking and easy access to Web information apps when on the go are added advantages of the device, said officials.

Touch gestures including pinch, zoom, rotate, swipe and scroll are recognized and the large on-screen icons increase readability which comes in useful especially in public areas. Furthermore convenience and ergonomics can be enhanced as the monitors can be adjusted to a near-horizontal position on the tabletop, or can be kept upright when working at a desk.

The smart all-in-one displays can be used as standalone devices and can be equipped with connectivity features like USB 2.0 ports to connect devices like memory stick, camera, printer, smartphone, keyboard and mouse. Also featured are an integrated webcam, microphone, Wi-Fi supporting 802.11 b/g/n standards, 2GB of main memory and 8GB of internal storage expandable with an SD card.
