Blue Coat to Adopt Holistic Approach to Tackle Enterprise Security

The cyber security landscape is evolving rapidly, and attackers are thwarting the efforts of security operation teams with advanced, persistent threats and unknown malware. Well, if these bad guys are going to alter their modus operandi, then Blue Coat (News - Alert) Systems is not going to sit back and watch. In collaboration with HP, it has an all new holistic approach lined up for enterprise security.

Blue Coat’s Advanced Threat Protection solution will integrate HP’s security products to help enterprises finally address advanced persistent threats at each stage of the threat lifecycle. It will also enable seamless sharing of threat intelligence information across the security environment, ensuring greater operational control.

The trouble with today’s security teams is that they operate in silos; as a result, information never gets shared across the entire security organization or environment. Hence, in spite of increased investment in security, there was a surge in security breaches in 2013. This is the loophole that Blue Coat’s new solution will plug.

"To combat advanced persistent threats, enterprises need complete visibility and operational control that bridges the gap between prevention, incident containment and resolution," said Joe Levy (News - Alert), CTO at Blue Coat Systems.

HP security products provide enhanced visibility of advanced threats within a network, automating and streamlining prevention and remediation, while Blue Coat’s actionable intelligence and analytics will enable enterprises shorten the time between breach, incident discovery and response.

With full visibility into all traffic on the network, threats can be identified and perimeter defenses set up to block known threats and malware. When such threat intelligence is shared across the entire security environment, resolution is faster. Once incident response is integrated with post breach threat intelligence, perimeter defenses are fortified in real-time.  Security analysts thus gain greater operational control.

"Through collaboration with Blue Coat, HP is addressing this challenge head on, bringing together powerful, complementary security solutions that can provide an integrated defense that continues to get smarter as new threats are discovered," noted Rob Greer, vice president and general manager, TippingPoint, enterprise security products, HP.

Cyber threats are always going to manifest in some form or the other, and enterprise security is all about having a better, faster, and more effective approach to identify issues, fix problems, and plan for future attacks.
