Maxta has announced the deployment of its proprietary Maxta Storage Platform to enable VDI implementation at the town of Venray in The Netherlands. Following the development, the city government of the Dutch town will be able to enhance the performance and capacity of its SAN storage array for seamless implementation of VDI for its 450 employees to provide better administration for the city’s 43,000 residents.
“We are pleased that Venray selected Maxta MxSP to avoid a costly expansion of its SAN storage array that was necessitated by the implementation of a virtualized desktop environment,” said Yoram Novick, Maxta founder, president and CEO. “We were able to provide Venray with the redundancy they needed, enterprise-class functionality they could not find in other software-defined storage offerings, and improved cost and management simplicity over existing enterprise storage solutions.”
The Venray administration was looking for a solution complementing its SAN storage array before implementing the VDI environment. The capacity of the existing SAN array was not sufficient to manage the load and the lesser number of IOPS would restrict the implementation of full-fledged desktops. Maxta Storage Platform was the ideal software-defined solution for the Venray IT management team owing to the solution’s high resiliency and scalability for distributed VM storage applications.
Speaking of the decision to implement the Maxta solution, Edwin Griesheimer, IT advisor for the city government of Venray, said “The budget was very limited and another solution was not available so we began a search for software-defined storage offerings. Maxta looked interesting. The features Maxta offered fit perfectly compared to other software-based storage. Its storage redundancy over multiple nodes was a very compelling feature. And unlike complex disk solutions, Maxta was easy to use. There's no need for expensive storage courses; Maxta can be learned within an hour.”
Maxta Storage Platform provides flash performance and increased hard disk capacities for VDI implementations by leveraging flash technology for a read-and-write caching process to meet the requirement for high performance during boot or login storms. The platform reduced the costs associated with VDI deployments by integrating applications, storage and server virtualization.Maxta is engaged in the development of enterprise storage solutions with cost-efficient storage solutions for virtualized environments. The company also offers solutions to support a wide range of business-class data services and capabilities for capacity optimization.
