Uniden EXP1240 Confirmed Interoperable with FreePBX, System on Display at ITEXPO

As expected, more news continues to flow out of ITEXPO (News - Alert) down in Miami.  This time it comes from Schmooze Com Inc., the developer of FreePBX, a popular open source PBX platform.  The company has announced that it has completed interoperability testing of Uniden's new EXP1240 SIP DECT (News - Alert) line of cordless telephones.

"Uniden worked alongside our team as they moved into the SIP DECT mobility marketplace," said Tony Lewis, CEO of Schmooze Com Inc.  "They have a tremendous product, and we enthusiastically welcome them into the ever expanding FreePBX ecosystem."

This interoperability confirms that any FreePBX users looking to leverage Uniden (News - Alert) SIP/DECT phones will have no problem configuring them for use on the system.  The EXP1240 SIP DECT line phones thus joins a group of over 250 phones, gateways, and other devices that are configurable from the FreePBX End Point Manager, a FreePBX add on. Users, system integrators and resellers alike will be able to manage these cordless phones directly from the systems GUI administrator interface.

"Uniden America Corporation is excited to be joining the FreePBX community with our Enterprise class EXP1240 SIP DECT Mobility platform," said Brett Morrison, vice president of sales and marketing for Uniden's Business Communication Systems.  "This product provides a user-friendly communications solution for most any environment."

Schmooze is currently demonstrating these new Uniden phones in conjunction with the FreePBX platform at booth No. 535 at Asterisk (News - Alert) World, an open-source telephony-centered conference co-located with ITEXPO.   Moreover, Schmooze Com Vice President of Sales and Marketing Preston McNair is scheduled to provide an overview of what the FreePBX project is and a timeline in history of how FreePBX has evolved over the years on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 1:30 p.m.

CEO Tony Lewis will also be giving a talk on the variety of phone applications available for integration with the FreePBX platform.  In the session, scheduled for Friday, Jan. 31 at 12 p.m., Lewis will review the currently available features of FreePBX Phone (News - Alert) APPS, such as Call Parking, FollowMe Management, Do Not Disturb, Conference Room Management, Login/logout hot desking and show off some of the upcoming new Apps under development.

Those interested in learning more about FreePBX are urged to attend Asterisk World at ITEXPO.  The event runs from now through Jan. 31.
