ScanSource Security Now Offers Comprehensive Access Control Solutions

ScanSource (News - Alert) Security, a value-added distributor of physical security products and a business unit of ScanSource, Inc., has announced that it is now offering comprehensive access control solutions to its reseller and dealer partners through products from ASSA ABLOY, Axis (News - Alert) Communications, HID Global and Securitron.

Thanks to these products, resellers would now be able to deliver a complete open network-based access control solution to their end-user customers.

Officials with ScanSource Security said that the solution includes Axis Communications’ (News - Alert) new AXIS A1001 Network Door Controller, ASSA ABLOY's HES electric strikes and other entry hardware, HID Global cards and readers, and Securitron’s electromagnetic locks, exit bars and devices.

“The access control market is migrating from analog to network-based products, and, with our experience and leadership in this market, offering a comprehensive access control solution from these manufacturers, coupled with our value-added services and tools, will enable our resellers to deliver high-quality products and support to their end-user customers – all from one source,” said Christie Hamberis, vice president of merchandising, ScanSource Security, in a statement.

Bruce Stewart, business development manager, Access Control, Axis Communications, Inc. said that the access control market is stuck in a closed, proprietary, analog world.

“With the launch of the AXIS A1001, we aim to revolutionize the industry just as we did in video surveillance through open, IP-based technology to enable integrators to build flexible access control solutions for their customers,” said Stewart.

“Thanks to open architecture, PoE support and Axis’ deep software partnerships, integrators now have ‘one controller in the van’ to design everything from a single-door solution to an enterprise-sized system that can integrate with other security platforms,” said Stewart.

TMCnet in October reported that ScanSource, Inc., an international distributor of specialty technology products, point-of-sale (POS) and barcode, communications and physical security solutions, recently introduced a program called All-Access ScanSource, initiated with an aim to boost communications and integration between ScanSource and its reseller partners.
