Trimble Intros New GeoExplorer Data Collection Solution, Geo 7X

Trimble (News - Alert), a provider of technology solutions, unveiled its new GeoExplorer data collection solution Geo 7X, which features an integrated laser rangefinder module and extended GNSS capabilities with enhanced hardware performance.

Alain Samaha, business area director of GIS and geospatial software solutions for Trimble’s Geospatial Division said, “We believe that true productivity is being able to map assets—the first time, every time and anywhere. We’ve built upon our productivity-enabling Floodlight technology and pushed it forward several steps.”

The Trimble Geo 7X handheld will be available with field and office software which is expected to improve the field productivity of users in any kind of challenging GNSS and physical environment. The geospatial data collection tools present in the package aids GIS professionals when they encounter problems like obstructed satellites or inaccessible locations. Trimble’s new Flightwave technology comes in handy when it is impossible for users to occupy a position. Flightwave technology will allow them to capture offset measurements from the Geo 7X’s rangefinder module that can be integrated directly into the Trimble data collection software.

Also, the Floodlight technology allows users to point and shoot to log the position enabling them to avoid situations created by heavy overhead cover which may obstruct satellite signals. According to officials, the Geo 7X is compatible with existing and planned GNSS satellite systems such as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS and BeiDou. Geo 7X enables Trimble to deliver updates to its field and office software portfolio thereby improving its end-to-end data collection solutions. The new Geo 7X supports the customizable data collection workflows of Trimble TerraFlex software besides Trimble TerraSync and Positions software.

TerraFlex features mobile software and cloud services and helps in the collection, processing and management of data. It allows field data to be automatically synced with a central server hence streamlining office operations.

“Users now can position themselves in the optimal location and accurately measure assets remotely with a single, integrated device together with simple software workflows. The Trimble Geo 7X allows mobile GIS users to be productive wherever they need to work,” Samaha added.

Trimble launched the Trimble RTX mobile app in October 2013 to serve end users across the survey, mapping and agriculture markets. Using Android (News - Alert) smartphones and tablets, the Trimble RTX app enables the Trimble CenterPoint RTX post-processing service and the RangePoint RTX service activation portal to go mobile.
