IBM’s (News - Alert) Business Analytics Center of Competency (BACC) has successfully implemented MotioCI and within a year, has recorded huge savings in terms of labor costs. Implementing MotioCI has enabled IBM BAAC to deliver self-service business intelligence modules in a governed environment and agile development process while enhancing customer satisfaction.
IB BAAC is IBM’s internal business unit for managing analytics and standardization of processes to deliver efficient business intelligence solutions. Over the years, the unit has successfully integrated various departmental business intelligence frameworks into a single organization-wide Cognos (News - Alert) platform hosted on Blue Insight, a private cloud environment with huge scalability.
In mid-2013, Blue Insight was extremely popular with 200 diverse teams spread across locations including 5000 testers, 4000 Cognos developers and more than 400,000 end-users.
David Kelly, project manager at IBM BACC said, “With the Cognos product alone, there is no easy way to allow different teams to manage themselves in a governed manner - where they're prevented from impacting other business teams. MotioCI has helped us move along the self-service roadmap and we're growing quite rapidly. By the end of this year, most of our projects will be able to do much of the management themselves - from promotions to scheduling to security to whatever they want to do within their space. This will allow the operations team to focus on some of the other service areas we're looking to expand.”
With the adoption rate of Blue Insight increasing by the day, IBM BAAC required version control and content deployment to be automated for Cognos environments. MotioCI was the most viable and cost efficient option for automating Cognos administrative tasks to free up the operations teams.
