Cloud-Based Energy Analysis Software Provider Sefaira Amasses $9.2 Million in New Capital

Leveraging software for high performance building design and energy efficiency is not a new concept. But, what is really noteworthy is how more and more architectural firms are adopting or planning to adopt cloud-based building design and energy efficiency analysis software.

Sefaira is one such company that is successfully capitalizing on this trend. The company has added more than 50 new architectural firms as customers in the third quarter alone.

Offering energy efficient building design software, Sefaira has been able to attract the patronage of industry-leading investors. Recently, the company amassed $9.2 million in new capital, which will be used to support its rapid growth, easing the new product roll out planned for Q4. In addition, the capital will be utilized to carry out further development of real-time energy analysis software for building design, company officials explained.

Of the $9.2 million, a $2 million venture debt facility came from Silicon Valley Bank. Sefaira's existing investors, including Braemar Energy Ventures, Chrysalix SET and Hermes GPE, jointly contributed the other $7.2 million of new venture capital.

Following the recent achievement, the company has tapped Philip Crawford, former senior vice president of Oracle Corporation and president of EDS (News - Alert) International, to assume the role as chairman of the board.

While rapid client wins clearly prove that Sefaira’s cloud-based energy efficiency software is helping industry players come up with more innovative and sustainable designs, the backing of so many distinguished investors, especially the recent partnership with the highly respected Silicon Valley Bank, showcases the company’s business acumen in an increasingly competitive space.

“We are delighted that we are enjoying the backing of a strong investor syndicate, now also joined by Silicon Valley Bank. We are also very pleased that Philip Crawford has agreed to serve as chairman to help us grow the company. More than anything it is terrific that we are welcoming a rapidly growing number of leading architectural firms as customers. Architects keep looking for better ways to design great, sustainable and energy efficient buildings, and Sefaira offers unique technology to help our customers do just that,” Sefaira CEO Mads Jensen said in a statement.
