Backupify Plans Cloud Storage Support Development

Backupify (News - Alert), a cloud-to-cloud backup and recovery solutions for SaaS applications, announced last week that it plans to develop support for multiple data storage providers. The expansion gives customers more ownership over their data, allowing the companies to manage and regulate their data the way that best fits their needs.

“For many enterprise organizations, security and privacy remains a serious barrier to cloud adoption,” Wayne Pauley, senior analyst at Enterprise Strategy Group, said in a statement. “If SaaS (News - Alert) vendors like Backupify can ease the transition to the cloud by providing companies with enhanced control over their data, this barrier can be lowered and the risks can be mitigated.”

Backupify is testing with a small, select group of customers to organize the best possible strategy, in order to provide high quality support. With public cloud services being estimated to account for $100 billion in spending by 2016, many companies with a high volume of data stored on the cloud are looking for the best privacy, control and security.

“The growing trend among enterprise businesses is toward total data ownership,” Rob May, CEO of Backupify, said in a statement. “Data should be stored wherever companies want it, available when they want it, and vendors need to support this desire for data storage flexibility. Many of our larger customers have existing relationships with data storage providers, and have been asking for centralized management of their data, including backups. These companies have massive amounts of data and want the ease of storing their data in one place, under their full control.”

Headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., Backupify is a provider of cloud-to-cloud backup and recovery solutions for SaaS applications. Backupify ensures that companies can access and control the data they entrust to these systems and prevents data loss from external threats with its all-in-one archiving, search and restore solution.
